The Pre-Lich

Lich does not have a direct mythological equivalent; it was a monster that was invented solely for D&D roleplaying game. The concept drew from the similar monsters that existed in contemporary sword n' sorcery genre and weird tales.

However, that does not mean that there weren't monsters and concepts within mythology that were lich-like. In this listing, we will attempt to list appearance of as many beings that could, retroactively, be called liches.
